Fuck ESPN - let's Skatopia.......

Well another X Games has come and gone - rumor has it maybe they're gone 4 good....I hope so - maybe the ESPN kooks - er, I mean execs, who are "over" skating can convince all of mainstream America that they are "over" it too? One word:GOODBYE....
I will be happy to return every year to Skatopia, the last bastion of what skating is really all about.....F-R-E-E-D-O-M. No coaches, uniforms, rules, stats,"teamwork", and all that other cliche American sports crap - just good old fashioned ANARCHY.....
I was somewhat dismayed to see Skatopia revealed to the rest of the world, even in a mag as cool as Rolling Stone (that is a joke by the way), but that's as close as most tools who read RS will ever get to going there - just keep dreaming about it while you're commuting to your 9-to-5 graveyard in your tin coffin.....oh BTW check the ADDIKT sticker on the coping in the opening shot - nice "lipslide" (that's Rolling Stone-speak for a crail grind)....

It Is What It Is......

I love using this phrase - it doesn't mean shit but at the same time it can describe a situation that defies description. For instance; imagine you head out to a "Grand Opening" only to discover that the park ain't done, there is no "Grand Opening" and (drum roll please) - no air conditioning! Only 100 degrees in the shade......what's this world coming to? Next thing you know everyone will be riding fiberglass skateboards (don't laugh - I hear they last forever and the profit margins are huge......) - once you're there you might as well ride, right? Sean Barclay reigned supreme over the Fourth of July weekend with nose grinds on the over-vert clam and just about everything else he felt like trying - we slept 'til 2PM everyday and then went straight to the BlackJack tables, sobering up just long enough to sweat it out @ WagonWheel on the late shift - it is what it is....

It Is What It Is......

Never really understood what that meant, but got a taste of it this weekend - we lost one pool to the relentless wheels of economic progress (i.e. someone moved into the home,literally,while we were skating.....),the Blue Haven we planned on replacing it with didn't happen due to a pump malfunction and the one pool we did get to ride coincided w/ the realization that I had left my camera on in the case for the entire week and now had a dead battery - if that isn't "It is what it is" then I don't what is........here's a foto our friends @ Addiction got of the Kettering pool - gonna' have to do 'til we get the pump fixed and a new 2CR5 lithium battery....

You ever been to FL? Better bring your iPod - ain't nuthin' but "classic rock" radio stations in these here parts - kinda' grows on ya' after a while.........Cocoa Beach was WHERE and Florida Bowlriders Cup was WHY - $10K cash purse and the Hooters Girls (sponsor) - you need any more reasons? Packy and Sean wanted some of both but didn't get their hands on either this time - some serious riding going on in the Pro heats and if u fell once in your run you might as well go get some Hot Chicken Wings @ the Hooters booth.........
